Description

Crispy egg rolls filled with spicy shredded chicken, cabbage, and Cajun-inspired seasonings for a bold New Orleans–style appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup diced green onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for sautéing)
  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • 1 beaten egg (for sealing)
  • Oil for frying


Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  2. Stir in shredded chicken, cabbage, and carrots. Cook for 3–4 minutes.
  3. Add green onions, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, cayenne, soy sauce, and hot sauce. Mix well and cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Remove filling from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
  5. Place an egg roll wrapper on a flat surface. Add 2–3 tablespoons of filling in the center.
  6. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll tightly. Brush the edge with beaten egg to seal.
  7. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  8. Heat frying oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry egg rolls for 3–5 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  9. Remove and drain on paper towels before serving.

Notes

  • Serve with spicy mayo or sweet chili sauce.
  • Air fry at 375°F for 8–10 minutes as a lighter option.
  • Use shrimp instead of chicken for a seafood twist.
