Quick & Easy Homemade Butter Chicken is a creamy, mildly spiced Indian-inspired dish made with tender chicken simmered in a rich tomato-butter sauce, perfect for a fast and comforting homemade meal.
Ingredients
- 500 g boneless chicken breast or thighs, cubed
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon paprika or chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- Salt to taste
- Optional: chopped fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Heat butter and vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and sauté until soft and lightly golden.
- Add garlic and ginger paste; cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in tomato puree, garam masala, paprika, turmeric, and salt.
- Simmer the sauce for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Add the chicken pieces and cook for 8–10 minutes until fully cooked.
- Pour in the heavy cream and stir gently.
- Simmer for another 3–5 minutes until the sauce is rich and creamy.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
Notes
- Serve with rice or naan bread.
- You can use canned crushed tomatoes instead of puree.
- Adjust spice level by increasing or reducing chili powder.
