Description

Onion Beef Fried Rice is a savory and satisfying one-pan meal made with tender beef, caramelized onions, fluffy rice, and simple seasonings for a quick and flavorful dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked white rice (cold, day-old preferred)
  • 200 g beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over high heat.
  2. Add the sliced beef and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until just cooked; remove and set aside.
  3. Add the remaining oil to the pan and sauté the sliced onion until soft and lightly caramelized.
  4. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Push the onion mixture to one side and pour in the beaten eggs; scramble until just set.
  6. Add the cooked rice, breaking up any clumps, and stir well to combine.
  7. Return the beef to the pan and add soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper.
  8. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until everything is heated through and evenly coated.
  9. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use cold rice for best texture.
  • You can substitute beef with chicken or shrimp.
