Description

Juicy marinated chicken wrapped in warm pita bread with fresh vegetables and creamy tzatziki sauce, a quick and healthy Mediterranean-inspired meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 cup cucumber, diced
  • 1 cup tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup tzatziki sauce


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add chicken and marinate for at least 20 minutes (or up to 2 hours for best flavor).
  3. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook chicken 5–7 minutes per side until fully cooked and golden brown.
  4. Remove chicken from heat, let rest for 5 minutes, then slice into strips.
  5. Warm pita breads in a dry skillet or oven.
  6. Assemble gyros by adding chicken, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, red onion, feta, and tzatziki sauce to pita.
  7. Fold and serve immediately.

  • For extra flavor, grill the chicken instead of pan-cooking.
  • Serve with a side of Greek salad or roasted potatoes for a complete meal.
