Description
Creamy Paprika Chicken is a rich, comforting dish with tender chicken cooked in a creamy, smoky paprika sauce. Perfect for serving over rice or mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and cayenne pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken and cook for 5-6 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add chicken broth and stir to loosen any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low, then add the heavy cream and Dijon mustard. Stir well to combine.
- Return the chicken to the skillet and simmer in the sauce for an additional 5-7 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and the chicken to reheat.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- Serve this creamy paprika chicken with a side of rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.
- For a lighter version, you can use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
- If you prefer a bit more heat, increase the cayenne pepper to taste.
