Description

Creamy Garlic Shrimp with Rice is a rich and flavorful seafood dish featuring juicy shrimp sautéed in a buttery garlic cream sauce, served over fluffy rice. It’s easy, comforting, and perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a romantic meal at home.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 cups cooked white or jasmine rice (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Pat shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the shrimp and cook for 1–2 minutes per side, until pink and opaque. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Stir in Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Cook until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3–4 minutes.
  7. Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the creamy sauce. Simmer for another 1–2 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve the creamy garlic shrimp over warm rice.

Notes

  • Use half-and-half or evaporated milk instead of heavy cream for a lighter version.
  • Add spinach or sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor and color.
  • Serve over rice, pasta, or mashed potatoes for a hearty meal.
  • Don’t overcook the shrimp — they only need a few minutes!
