Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 cups cooked white or jasmine rice (for serving)
Instructions
- Pat shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the shrimp and cook for 1–2 minutes per side, until pink and opaque. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Cook until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3–4 minutes.
- Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the creamy sauce. Simmer for another 1–2 minutes.
- Remove from heat, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve the creamy garlic shrimp over warm rice.
Notes
- Use half-and-half or evaporated milk instead of heavy cream for a lighter version.
- Add spinach or sun-dried tomatoes for extra flavor and color.
- Serve over rice, pasta, or mashed potatoes for a hearty meal.
- Don’t overcook the shrimp — they only need a few minutes!
