Description

Classic Chocolate Cake is a rich, moist, and tender dessert made with cocoa powder and simple pantry ingredients, perfect for birthdays, celebrations, or any time chocolate cravings strike.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water or hot coffee

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract; beat until smooth.
  4. Gradually stir in the hot water or coffee until the batter is thin and well combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove from oven and allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes.
  8. Turn out onto wire racks to cool completely before frosting.

Notes

  • Using hot coffee enhances the chocolate flavor.
  • Do not overmix the batter.
  • Pair with chocolate buttercream or ganache for best results.
