Description

A rich and decadent chocolate truffle cake with a moist base and a silky smooth chocolate ganache topping, perfect for special occasions or indulgent desserts.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup hot coffee (or hot water)
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Cocoa powder or chocolate shavings (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk oil, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in buttermilk.
  4. Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, mixing until combined.
  5. Stir in hot coffee until batter is smooth and slightly thin.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Let cake cool completely before topping.
  8. For ganache: Heat heavy cream in a saucepan until just simmering. Pour over chopped chocolate and butter. Let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  9. Spread ganache evenly over cooled cake.
  10. Chill cake for at least 1 hour before serving. Garnish with cocoa powder or chocolate shavings.
