Description
Chocolate Lava Cake is a decadent individual dessert with a soft baked exterior and a rich, molten chocolate center that flows when cut open.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate
- 2 large eggs
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins.
- Melt butter and chocolate together until smooth.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs, egg yolks, and sugar until pale.
- Stir melted chocolate mixture and vanilla into the eggs.
- Fold in flour and salt until just combined.
- Divide batter evenly among ramekins.
- Bake for 12–14 minutes until edges are set but centers are soft.
- Let rest 1 minute, then invert onto plates and serve immediately.
Notes
- Do not overbake or the lava center will set.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream or berries.
- Batter can be prepared ahead and refrigerated.
