Description

Chocolate Lava Cake is a decadent individual dessert with a soft baked exterior and a rich, molten chocolate center that flows when cut open.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins.
  2. Melt butter and chocolate together until smooth.
  3. In a bowl, whisk eggs, egg yolks, and sugar until pale.
  4. Stir melted chocolate mixture and vanilla into the eggs.
  5. Fold in flour and salt until just combined.
  6. Divide batter evenly among ramekins.
  7. Bake for 12–14 minutes until edges are set but centers are soft.
  8. Let rest 1 minute, then invert onto plates and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Do not overbake or the lava center will set.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or berries.
  • Batter can be prepared ahead and refrigerated.
