Description

A savory quick bread packed with cheddar cheese, garlic, and fresh herbs, perfect as a side dish or snack without the need for yeast or long rising times.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme (or 1 tsp dried thyme)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, parsley, thyme, and 1 cup of the cheddar cheese.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, eggs, and minced garlic.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until just combined (do not overmix).
  5. Transfer batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese over the top.
  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • For a stronger flavor, add 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese to the batter.
